日本で新型コロナウイルス感染症対策専門家会議「新型コロナウイルス感染症対策の状況分析・提言」（2020年3月19日）が「突然爆発的に患者が急増（オーバーシュート（爆発的患者急増））する」と表していたのは、おそらくこれのことと思われる。では、なぜこのexplosive outbreakという用語に基づいた言い方をしなかったのか、ということになると、謎である。
ところで当Wiki, outbreakを項目化していなかったことに今気づいた。そのうちに……（基本語はやりだすとけっこう大変なので、なるべくやりたくないという心理が働いている）。
