補足・特記事項など
英国（United Kingdom）はイングランド・スコットランド・ウェールズ・北アイルランドという4つの国（home nations）の連合体（Union）である。イングランドを除く3国には自治政府があり、医療や公衆衛生などの分野は各自治政府に権限委譲されているため、COVIDE-19対応方針は4ヶ国が独自に決定している（イングランドについては英国政府が自治政府の役割を兼ねる）。しかし、ロックダウンなどの流行拡大対策に関しては、原則的に4ヶ国が足並みを揃えて英国全体で方針の統一を図ってきた。これを英国ではfour-nation(s) approachと呼んでいる。
他に、four-nation(s) strategyという表現を使うこともある。

なお、four-nation approach（およびその表記ゆれ各種）という語句自体は、今回のパンデミックとは違う文脈で以前から用いられていた。英国（the United Kingdom）はひとつの「国」ではなく、4つの「国」から成るということを再確認・重視・強調する立場での用例が（私 = nofrillsのフィルターバブル内では）検索結果の上位に見られる。これはイングランドの史観ではないし、北アイルランドは北アイルランドでややこしい史観があるので、スコットランドとウェールズでの用例が多いのは当然のことといえよう。
